Our Story
Founder Sascha Grumbach discovered Bitcoin in a Berlin bar back in 2012. His exploration of the Bitcoin mining industry throughout the years revealed a troubling pattern: companies often failed to deliver on their promises of environmental responsibility. Determined to change this, in 2022, Sascha joined forces with Valentine Pleser to create Green Mining DAO, a venture rooted in sustainable, innovative, and community-focused Bitcoin mining.
From the start, Green Mining DAO set out to redefine mining practices. By harnessing 100% hydroelectric energy, the company minimizes carbon emissions while repurposing excess heat to dry fruits — combining profitability with sustainability. Operating as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), Green Mining DAO emphasizes transparency, inclusivity, and shared decision-making, embodying the decentralized ethos of blockchain technology.
Our latest flagship project, Green Mine #003 (GM3) takes this vision further. GM3 democratizes access to Bitcoin mining by offering investors Bitcoin at production cost, eliminating barriers typically associated with mining. Powered entirely by renewable energy, GM3 achieves CO2-neutral operations, ensuring minimal environmental impact while delivering long-term profitability.
Our Team
Sascha Grumbach is the visionary founder and CEO of Green Mining DAO, a company driving sustainable, CO₂-neutral Bitcoin mining. His mission is to create a community-organized mining ecosystem that leverages renewable energy at competitive prices and provides investors with direct access to Bitcoin. Sascha brings extensive experience to the table: he has founded over 10 startups, raised millions in capital, and built high-performing teams. Additionally, he has expertise in product development, leadership, and digital transformation. Active in the blockchain space since 2015, Sascha is known for his tireless dedication to bringing innovative project ideas to life. With Green Mining DAO, he is setting new standards for sustainable Bitcoin mining.
Valentine Pleser is the Co-Founder of Green Mining DAO and a driving force in sustainable innovation and community building. Together with Sascha, she spearheaded a successful private sale that enabled eco-friendly mining operations in Paraguay. Valentine brings diverse experience from roles at The Argonauts, Accenture, and BearingPoint to her work at Green Mining DAO, where she leads strategy, marketing, and community management. As an expert in DAOs and sustainable technologies, she has shaped the company, driven growth, and built an engaged community. Her passion for sustainability and innovative approaches makes her a key leader at Green Mining DAO.
Miguel Monteiro, Head of Marketing & Community at GMD, brings over 15 years of creative expertise and entrepreneurial energy to the team. A master storyteller with a sharp eye for photography and a relentless drive for innovation, Miguel has crafted a career at the intersection of advertising, fintech, and the dynamic Bitcoin and crypto landscape—a field that has captivated him since 2017. Transitioning seamlessly from traditional advertising into fintech, Miguel thrives on solving complex challenges with fresh ideas and out-of-the-box thinking. At GMD, he channels his vision, creativity, and passion for forging meaningful connections between people and ideas, driving both innovation and community engagement to unparalleled heights.
Jode Wardell joins the team at GMD as Global Head of Bitcoin Mining Operations, bringing over 30 years of experience in automation and engineering. Jode has played a pivotal role in the development of the UK energy sector, including significant projects for The National Grid. His extensive expertise includes the architecture of complex systems, successfully applied to high-profile projects for the UK government. Since September 2024, Jode has been leading GMD's mining operations in Paraguay, with a primary focus on maximizing process efficiency by capturing and reusing 100% of the heat generated during mining. Jode’s leadership embodies GMD's commitment to innovation and environmentally friendly solutions in the Bitcoin mining sector, driving the vision of a more sustainable, technology-driven financial future.
